US Youth Soccer presents The Target United Cup

US Youth Soccer presents The Target United Cup – and it’s open to recreational and competitive tournaments through the fall.

The opportunity exists for the game of soccer to help mold a positive self-image by encouraging individual and team self-esteem. The Target United Cup program was initiated and organized to enhance the accomplishments of youth players. The development of all players within US Youth Soccer is advanced when the player meets personal challenges.

The Target United Cup is designed to encourage and honor the youth player by allowing the player to compete for both team and personal goals. This tournament is structured so that, regardless of ability, all players can realistically strive for the goal of being a champion.
The Target US Youth Soccer United Cup provides youth soccer players with an opportunity to experience a consistent, high quality tournament, in a fun family-like atmosphere. This program fosters stimulation and excitement about soccer in an effort to increase the youth players’ interest in and love for the game.

US Youth Soccer wants all players to feel special and have fun! We can achieve this by providing players with the opportunity to participate in an original event beyond their normal league play. The Target United Cup gives US Youth Soccer State Associations another benefit to bring together current members and a tool to use in increasing membership enrollment.

Ann Arbor, Miami hosts inaugural LaLiga-Serie A Cup

Relevent Sports Group (RSG) announced last month that FC Barcelona and SSC Napoli will face off in the inaugural LaLiga-Serie A Cup that includes a Saturday, Aug. 10, match at Michigan Stadium on the University of Michigan’s Campus. The start time is set for 5 p.m.

The annual cup will be a home and away series featuring teams from each of the leagues. The other 2019 match will be held Wednesday, Aug. 7, at Hard Rock Stadium in Miami Gardens, Florida.

“LaLiga has recognized the importance of international expansion, especially in the United States, which is why we have dedicated significant resources through our joint venture with Relevent Sports Group,” said LaLiga president Javier Tebas. “The creation of the LaLiga-Serie A Cup is in line with our mission to create more opportunities for U.S. fans to celebrate LaLiga, and we look forward to this new annual tradition to bring our clubs to America each summer.”

“This Cup is the start of something incredibly special for both leagues to compete in front of thousands of fans in the biggest media market in the world,” said Serie A CEO Luigi De Siervo. “We couldn’t be more excited for this opportunity and are proud to have SSC Napoli playing Barcelona in the first edition of this prestigious matchup.”

FC Barcelona will be traveling to the United States after playing the Gamper Trophy in Barcelona, where it will be unveiling the 2019 first team to tens of thousands of fans at Camp Nou Stadium. Both clubs have confirmed that they will debut their first teams internationally in the LaLiga-Serie A Cup.

Michigan Stadium holds the record for the largest U.S. crowd in soccer history (109,318 fans, Manchester United vs. Real Madrid, Aug. 3, 2014). The “Big House” also hosted International Champions Cup games in 2016 (Real Madrid vs. Chelsea, July 30) and 2018 (Manchester United vs. Liverpool FC, July 28).
