Happy Thursday, we’re almost to the weekend! We have compiled some great stories for you today.
1. Gregg Berhalter Named Head Coach of US Men’s National Team (US Soccer)
For the first time ever, the US Men’s National Team will be coached by a world cup veteran. Gregg Berhalter has participated in two FIFA World Cups. He brings 25 years of experience as a player as well as head coaching experience in England, Germany, the Netherlands, Sweden, and the US.
“We are excited to announce Gregg as the next head coach of the U.S. Men’s National Team. As an experienced former National Team player and highly regarded professional coach, we are confident he is the best person to guide our program forward.”
Berhalter is known for his competitive nature and his intelligence. He is a natural leader and a detailed oriented manager. He is 45 and has a slew of experience, but most recently he had a dual role of Head Coach and Sporting Director with Columbus Crew SC for 5 seasons. He coached this team through multiple fantastic MLS Cup Playoff runs including playing in the 2015 MLS Cup Final and the 2017 Eastern Conference Final.
“Having played for the National Team I know what it means to represent our country. I believe in our players and our program, and together we will work to build something special and develop a team that will make our supporters proud.”

3. Mike D’Ambrosio Honored as December Personality of the Month (Eastern New York Youth Soccer)
Mike D’Ambrosio has been honored as the Personality of the Month by the Eastern New York Youth Soccer Association. He’ll be enjoying this month as he will be celebrating his birthday on December 9th.
“Michael is an excellent choice for Eastern New York Personality of the Month as he is a hard-working, dedicated volunteer who always puts others before himself.”
Mike has been involved in youth soccer every since he registered his daughter for soccer at the age of four in 1988. Mike was the assistant coach and as his daughter moved up to the US Youth National Team and Central Connecticut State University, Mike moved up as well, serving on the Board of Directors from 1989 to 2003. He was also the first Vice President, serving from 1993 to 2003. Mike has volunteered as various positions throughout his time with ENYYS
